Promotional Products Industry Grows to Over $18 billion in June 2007
The promotional product industry grew 4.25% in 2006 to over $18.8 billion in sales, outpacing the economy which grew at 3.3%.  This is up from $15.6 billion back in 2002.

The industry is broken down into 21 different product categories.  The largest product category continues to be wearables at 31%, up from 29% in 2005.  So not only is this the largest category, it is the quickest growing.  Writing instruments continue to be in second at 10% and calendars follow in 3rd at 6% of the market. 

The survey results were also segregated into sales by program category.  The largest program category continues to be Business Gifts at 19% followed up by Tradeshows at 11% and Brand Awareness at 9%.  The areas that saw large increases in this category were Public Relations and Not-For-Profit programs.

As a method for media, promotional products finished in the top half in growth rates among the 15 different methods of advertising in 2006.  The advertising methods that promotional products outgrew include radio, point of purchase advertising and newspaper.
