| Easy Care Woven Shirt Review |
|
Easy care woven shirts are a staple in our business casual attire culture. Easy care products are popular because people often are looking for shirts (and pants) that you can use out of the dryer. Most easy care products are a cotton/polyester blend since polyester helps minimizes wrinkles and holds the shape of the garment.
To help provide some direction on these products, we had two individuals review three different easy care woven shirts. Our reviewers were Bruce Rottman, a teacher at Brookfield Academy and Amber Burke, Marketing Manager at Kapur & Associates. All three shirts are available in Men’s and Ladies styling and sizing.
Ash City Easy Care Twill Shirt – This is a 4.5oz, 65% polyester, 35% cotton shirt that is available in seven colors. Sizes – Ladies S-3X, Men’s S-5X. Pricing for 12 shirts with 7000 embroidery stitches - $26.45 each. Amber – Amber was not a big fan of the shirt’s pinpoint material. One big reason Amber did not prefer this shirt is because this shirt has more polyester than cotton. She prefers to wear 100% cotton shirts because of how they look and feel. She also thought the fit tended to run smaller than the other two shirts. This was her least favorite of the three. Bruce – This is a thicker, more substantial shirt and was not as wrinkle free as the others. The shirt had a sturdy and crisp feel to it. Bruce thought this was a suitable product but was his least favorite as well.
River’s End Easy Care Pinpoint Dress Shirt – This is a 60/40 cotton/poly blend shirt and is available in six colors. Sizes – Ladies S-2XL, Men’s S-5XL. Pricing for a dozen shirts with 7000 embroidery stitches - $27.25 each Amber – This shirt has a good fit and felt good. The sample shirt was White and was a bit see-thru, so this was not acceptable. Amber liked how this shirt looked and felt but would not order it in White. Bruce – This shirt washed and dried well, basically ready to go out of the dryer. This is a lighter weight shirt, not has heavy as the others. So he thought it would be best for the warmer months in his classroom. He liked this shirt the second best of the three options.
Port Authority Easy Care Shirt – RECOMMENDED - This is a 55/45 cotton/poly blend that is available in 24 different colors. Sizes – Ladies XS-Plus 2XL, Men’s XS-10XL (tall sizes available as well). Pricing for a dozen shirts with 7000 embroidery stitches - $22.25 Amber – Overall this is a nice shirt with a soft hand and a good fit. Her only worry is the shirt has a sheen to it that she felt might allow the color to fade over time. This was her favorite shirt of the three options because of the soft feel of the shirt. Bruce – This is his favorite shirt of the three and did not have to use an iron out of the wash. There is contrast tipping on the inside collar of the shirt and he liked having the accent color. Bruce did get a bit of toothpaste on the shirt in the morning and it would not wash off during the day (on a Navy shirt) but it did come out in the wash. Overall Thoughts Amber – She thought all the shirts were suitable and said it does come down to a matter of preference. Amber prefers higher cotton content shirts, she feels that they fit better and look more professional and polished. None of the shirts that she tested were 100% cotton and the one she preferred had a 55/45 cotton/polyester blend. The three shirts that she tested were acceptable coming out of the wash, working well with her routine of washing, hang drying and using a light iron. Bruce – It is important to Bruce to have an easy care shirt since he prefers to not iron. He likes his shirts to be a bit baggy and have a button down collar with a traditional look. He thought all three shirts were nice but preferred the Port Authority shirt because it was soft and washed the best. |
